The first event for for the Meta Plays Company of Heroes 3 Pro League Season 2! £250 and 1875 Meta Plays Ladder Points are up for grabs. The tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday, February 15-16th, starting at 4 PM UTC. Brackets get locked at 3:45 PM UTC. This tournament is a TWO DAY EVENT - please ensure you are available on both days. Looking to contribute to this event? Maps are pre-determinded each round. No Mirror Matches. Allies are on Position 1. Axis are on Position 2. Battlegroup Elimination is in effect (each battlegroup can be only played once per set). In Bo5 the Battlegroup Elimination resets in the ace game. VP lead gets to choose between first pick or second pick his Faction in the Ace game (VP lead means the total amount of VPs across all games Players have to count for themselves). Map Pool: Faymonville, Twin Beaches, Road to Tunis, Villa Fiore. No cheating or intentional exploiting of any form allowed. Replays The winner has to upload all Replays in the Discord Replays Channel. Find replays at: C:\Users\Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes 3\Playbacks. Hosting Higher seeded player is the host. SOCIAL RULES Participants must be in the Meta Plays Discord. Report match results and provide replays there. Forfeiting/not showing up to any match with money prizes without notice will result in disqualification and you forfeiting the prizes. 1 rescheduling opportunity is granted when external conditions force it. There will not be a second rescheduling. Forfeiting players that break rules on any of our platforms, or do so out of malicious intent will be banned from the next event. Repeat offenders will receive a ban for the entire current and next season. There will not be a fourth chance after the season-long ban expires. Penalties for not showing up: Timer starts when 1 player is ready and neither player is currently playing a match. Late by over 10 minutes: opponent gains 1 match win. This is the wait time BEFORE a series begins. BETWEEN games in a series, the lateness limit is 5 minutes. Late by additional 5 minutes: opponent gains 1 match win for each 5 min. Once a player wins via lateness penalties, the late player is disqualified. No harassment, discrimination, or false cheating accusations against players/viewers/staff on any of our platforms. You will be disqualified, forfeit of prizes in this event, and be permanently banned from all event participation. Cheating accusations are meant to handled in private with Meta Plays staff. Stalling games after final staff decisions (e.g. via cheating accusation arguments) will result in lateness penalties. No excessively derogatory messaging targeting our staff on any platform. This will result in a permanent ban on all Meta Plays platforms. Win trading will result in forfeit. Do your best to win. You may resign if you are clearly losing. Live coaching or any other external communication during matches is unacceptable and will result in a permanent ban from all Meta Plays events. Do not sign up with smurfs. Match all account usernames. We will remove suspicious sign-ups. No account sharing. You will be disqualified, forfeit prizes in this event, and will be permanently banned from all event participation. STABILITY RULES In the event of player lag disputes, players must submit speedtest results. The event manager will make a judgement call. In the event of a disconnection or crash: If the game was relatively even: If all parties crash, re-play the game. The game doesn't count for score in the first instance. The player who didn't disconnect may choose a new map, and both players may choose a new leader. In the second instance, the player who didn't disconnect receives a point on the score board. In the third instance, the player who didn't disconnect wins the series. If both sides crash 3 times, reset PC and internet. If a player was significantly ahead: Admin win is awarded for the match for all cases. In the third instance, the player who didn't disconnect wins the series. A Different Approach In season 2, we are scattering individual events across 2025. There are no qualifiers and no main events. We believe this offers the following benefits that should result in greater player participation: Better prize pools for individual events. Increased schedule flexibility for players, as they no longer need to work around main events. Each event will now accept community donations as well, reducing the amount of time between contributions and effect. Without a main event, the slot they would normally occupy is now available for all players. This is not necessarily a permanent change we will keep, but we are going through with it for this year. In the event of significant budget/sponsorship changes, we would prefer running our classic league format with qualifiers and main events. As things stand however, it makes more sense to aim for maximized participation instead of small-time "premier" events. The Provisional Ranking System (Seeding) This will be the first occasion of us utilizing the Provisional Ranking System in Company of Heroes 3. While in Halo Wars 2, we use this for segregating skill levels into different leagues, our Company of Heroes revenues are not in a place to allow for this setup yet. So we will use it from a seeding point of view only. Moving through Provisional Rankings happens every time a tournament series or a showmatch gets a result on our website with immediate effect. So if you are currently rank 8, and beat rank 5, you will be the new rank 5, and the former rank 5 is now rank 6. Everyone in between loses a rank as well. The tiers are distributed as follows for Company of Heroes 3: S Tier: Rank 1-8 A Tier: Rank 9-16 B Tier: Rank 17-28 C Tier: Rank 29-44 D Tier: Rank 45-64 E Tier: Rank 65-90 F Tier: Rank 91+ We will link to the rankings in this article after the first tournament has sign-ups. How the Seasonal Ranking Ladder Works Each tournament we host will reward players that have won any series with Meta Plays Ladder Points. The more you win, the more points you receive. These Meta Plays Points then will go towards a Seasonal Ranking Ladder. The Seasonal Ranking Ladder will start everyone at 0 points when a new season comes around. The scaling of the ladder points works as follows: Base value: 10x Prize pool in GBP (or monetary value in prizes). A Different Approach In season 7, we are scattering individual events across 2025. There are no qualifiers and no main events. We believe this offers the following benefits that should result in greater player participation: Better prize pools for individual events. Increased schedule flexibility for players, as they no longer need to work around main events. Each event will now accept community donations as well, reducing the amount of time between contributions and effect. Without a main event, the slot they would normally occupy is now available for all players. This is not necessarily a permanent change we will keep, but we are going through with it for this year. In the event of significant budget/sponsorship changes, we would prefer running our classic league format with qualifiers and main events. As things stand however, it makes more sense to aim for maximized participation instead of small-time "premier" events. Additionally, we now feature 2v2 events for the Rising Star league while simultaneously supporting 1v1. In our polling, Pro players voted to keep the 1v1 format, and this felt like the right compromise, giving the majority of players access to 2v2 events. We made this decision in order to further promote our Provisional Ranking System, which is exclusive to 1v1s. In this process, by using the system in 1v1 events, we are also improving the rankings, making sure that players are in an appropriate league. As far as rule changes go, we will now remove leader power restrictions from Voridus, and introduce a drafting system that will remove mirror matchups, and give players more control over what matchups they will play via banning and exclusive picks. Access To Sign Ups As in Season 6, we will continue using our new Provisional Ranking System to limit sign ups. This will allow us to segment the leagues, stopping top players from playing in the Amateur League, and likewise stopping low and mid level players from playing in the Pro League. Provisional Ranking Tiers will give you access to sign up to specific qualifiers like so: Pro League: S and A Tiers Rising Star League: A, B, C, D, E, F Tiers Amateur League: C, D, E, F Tiers Moving through Provisional Rankings happens every time a tournament series or a showmatch gets a result on our website with immediate effect. So if you are currently rank 8, and beat rank 5, you will be the new rank 5, and the former rank 5 is now rank 6. Everyone in between loses a rank as well. The tiers are distributed as follows for Halo Wars 2: S Tier: Rank 1-8 A Tier: Rank 9-16 B Tier: Rank 17-28 C Tier: Rank 29-44 D Tier: Rank 45-64 E Tier: Rank 65-90 F Tier: Rank 91+ You can take a look at current Provisional Rankings here. How the Seasonal Ranking Ladder Works Each tournament we host will reward players that have won any series with Meta Plays Ladder Points. The more you win, the more points you receive. These Meta Plays Points then will go towards a Seasonal Ranking Ladder. Each League has its own separate Ladder. The Seasonal Ranking Ladder will start everyone at 0 points when a new season comes around. The scaling of the ladder points works as follows: Base value: 10x Prize pool in GBP (or monetary value in prizes). The number of players in the tournaments will scale the points in the following way: 4-8: -50% 9-15: -25% 16-23: no change 24-31: +50% 32-47: +75% 48-64: +100% You can review the point spread between player placements using our Tournament Point Calculator. Cosmetic Features In The Seasonal Ranking Ladder Based on your position in the ladder, we assign you to a "Class" - one of D(lowest), C, B, A and S(highest). The classes give you a badge and will be featured on your Tournament Profile. The top 4 players will also receive medals corresponding with their final placement in each Tournament. This is a very powerful classical age GP already, 80 seconds is kind of insane with all that it gives you. Shifting sands is way too cheap to recast. Instead of 20 per recast, it should be 50 per recast. Honestly a CD increase on this as well (it basically costs you favor for 2 myth units if you take my suggestion to shift every 3 minutes, that's insane. Fixing this should fix the set abuse, and give ra a slight nerf that it needs) Reduce range slightly of Petsuchos. They're very hard to see because of their size and kill within a ranged army. Just 180 CD change to Citadel is not good enough. It's only 100 and 150 favor for your 2nd and 3rd. Like i said above, something more needs done with citadel, even at 180s it's broken. Expand scarab divine dmg range when killed Tone down mummy some, they're amazing vs Greek, Norse. Make Tornado recast on par with SoO recast and change from +5 to +50. Greatest of fifty brought down from 30% to 25% Tusks of Apedemak war elephant population reduction removed and change dmg and cost parts to 15%. The other tech already provides thoth with 50% and 100% train time increase for Isis and Set.

Agreed, there needs to be a reason to make both Manticores and Hydras. A small favor reduction should help both, and we can keep Hydras going with a little extra pierce armor. Hydra favor cost: 28 -> 25 Hydra pierce armor: 50% -> 60% Manticore cost: 300 wood, 25 favor -> 250 wood, 22 favor Right, it only costs 50 to recast, that's a problem. But also it comes back just 1 minute after it expires. So I'd rather keep the potency and make it less frequent, and more expensive. Pestilence recast cost: 50 -> 80 favor Pestilence CD: 120s -> 180s I really think Pestilence is what drives this minor god, the techs aren't that special. Trying not to stack nerfs too hard here as Zeus is quite a bit better than Hades. I could see a small nerf to Divine Blood's build rate on vills. Having all the map covered in buildings, especially with Poseidon is an issue. Divine Blood build rate increase effect: +15% -> +10% Let's wait with this one for an iteration at least, don't want to remove Poseidon/Hades with the first version! -

Affirmative on all of you're replies. Suggestions for Greek: Reduce Manticore favor cost, even with the change to medusa you mentioned they're equal Hydra Buff? Pestilence probably needs the radius as what you said and also a tad more expensive on recasts. One of the techs for Ares needs tapered down, the minor is just too good. Either divine blood or golden apples needs nerfed slightly, aphro having both of those as well as a buffed curse would make her too good. I like the buffed curse, so i would combat that with a nerf to one of the two techs if i were you. Shafts of plague is probably too good

Thanks Pheno! Here's some quick thoughts: Maybe, but let's try this first. All the upgrades (guard tower, ballista tower, armory upgrades) will stack with this, and towers shoot 2 arrows. The value I list is the base one. This is going to be incredibly complex and I'll be outsourcing the work, so yes it will be coming later. Completely forgot about that. Thanks, removing this. I think the old one was 30, but it used to completely shot down production. The current one just increases training time, so I don't want to kill the god power without trying smaller steps. Agreed, let's try that. 800 -> 1200 resources converted as a first test. Going to be careful like with the towers. 3 projectiles and stacking armory techs again. With Zeus, you have Medusa also. Bellerophon is the most buffed greek hero in Retold. He gained over a hundred HP and a huge amount of divine damage. Each minor god's myth units use a different resource in Retold, would like to keep the convention where possible. Hades and Poseidon also can get the extra favor via Aphrodite, so not too concerned about this aspect. There's plenty of counters (divine damage, mass heroes, frost giants, medusa etc). -
Thank you for the suggestions and list Naka! I'll be playing devils advocate on some of these things, not that i necessarily agree with something. Reasons for a balance mod: I've heard a lot of chatter from the main dozen or so people that play about not wanting a DM patch because it might divide the community. Personally, I don't agree with this, you can always play off patch if you want including ranked. But, it would suck having the most competitive patch be something that is not playable on the ladder. Personally i don't see the mode as being too hyper aggressive right now. That could be a playstyle thing from me. I'm sure my average game vs top 40 people as a whole all together is about 20 minutes. I'm also not sure about Greek dominance in regards to factions. I think Eggy as a whole is better right now, with Greek slightly behind. Norse needs some help as well as Atty a small amount. Santa List Item: I know it's probably later down the pipeline, but mirrored maps. Hi all, With everyone having experienced Retold DM for a good amount of time now, we have all noted a handful of trends that justify a community-made balance mod again: Long search times and frequent low quality matches in ranked Hyper-aggression is too strong, due to the larger armies and weak defenses Greek dominance, with many other gods needing significant help Map balance issues (TCs particularly) can often decide games Changes to standard mode often not suiting the needs of DM This is not to say that people shouldn't play ranked without the mod, but if we can have a better experience in custom games between core community members, then why not build something?
