$15,000 Age of Mythology Retold League: Wrath of the Gods

Hi all,

We are extremely pleased to announce a major Age of Mythology Retold League called Wrath of the Gods!
This is sponsored by World's Edge (Microsoft) with a generous $13,000 going directly into the prize pool.

Unlike ever before, we are co-hosting this event with the following people (their contribution marked in brackets):

• Boit (casting, rules, pay-outs, $1,250 contribution to prizes)
• Meta Plays / Nakamura (event page, casting, $1,000 contribution to production assets, $250 to prize pool)
• AoLIronMaiden (casting, $500 contribution to prize pool)
• Wolf Studios (production asset creation)
• Yodesla (casting) 
• Fophuxake (event management and organization)

How Wrath of the Gods Works

• Play in up to 3 Single Elimination Qualifiers, each with a $1,000 prize pool and a 64 player limit.
• By advancing in rounds, you will earn an increasing amount of league points. 
• The top 16 players by league points (or more if there are ties) get invited to the main event.
• The main event has a $12,000 prize pool.
• Every tournament is broken up into 2 day (weekend) events, with the top 8 matches all being covered on day 2.
• All event communication will happen via the Meta Plays Discord. Players MUST be present, and the community is welcome too.

Dates:

• Qualifier 1: Nov 30-Dec 1, 14:00 UTC
• Qualifier 2: Dec 7-8, 14:00 UTC
• Qualifier 3: Dec 14-15, 14:00 UTC
• Main Event: Dec 21-22, 14:00 UTC

League Point Distribution:

The qualifiers will each provide a base point pool of 10,000 league points.

The number of players in the tournaments will scale the base point pool in the following way:

• 4-8: -50%
• 9-15: -25%
• 16-23: no change
• 24-31: +50%
• 32-47: +75%
• 48-64: +100%

Given that we expect all the qualifiers to be full (64 players), the qualifiers should each have 20,000 league points in their pool.

Community casters will have open access to cover games as well. Please contact @fophuxakefor clearance and crediting in the brackets (crediting only when an official caster isn't taking the match).
We will also provide replay packs that may be used for replay casts or learning purposes, after each event.

Cosmetic Features In The Seasonal Ranking Ladder

Based on your position in the ladder, we assign you to a "Class" - one of D(lowest), C, B, A and S(highest). The classes give you a badge and will be featured on your Tournament Profile. Check out the Class icons below.

The top 4 players will also receive medals corresponding with their final placement in each Tournament. While qualifiers are generic, the Main Event will receive custom medals.

Will Meta Plays Host More Leagues After This?

While we have been away from the Age of Mythology scene, this Wrath of the Gods League marks our permanent return. For some of the Microsoft-sponsored events we will be acting as co-hosts, but in the new year we are looking forward to announcing our own leagues. The Age of Mythology donation goals on the website relate to these 2025 events, not Wrath of the Gods.
