Meta Plays Age of Mythology League Season 5 Announcement

We are pleased to announce the Meta Plays Age of Mythology League Season 5!
The event will be held on Age of Mythology: The Titans on Voobly!
Meta Plays will cover all matches, with our Content Partners having open access.
Community casters may request casting access, too.

This season features large changes compared to past ones:

• We will only have one event, which will be long term.
  • This ensures that a maximum number of players will be available.
  • As in the previous season, all prizes are concentrated in one epic event.
  • By covering every match (from replays), we expect to have more stream days than normal.
• The starting prize pool with scale with sign ups.
  • A win for the players, and a win for us.
  • Invite your friends to maximize the prizes.
  • Especially with community contributions, we can generate more hype than ever before.
  • The larger prize pool will help eliminate unnecessary forfeits, as there is more on the line.

Introducing "The Wisdom of Thoth" Pro League:

• GSL Group Stage into Single Elimination Format.
• Up to $1000 Starting Prize Pool + Community Donations + Sponsorship Contributions.
• Start date: May 15th. One round per week.

Note: our calendar will be updated with broadcast days as we progress through the event and new info becomes available.

Give Us The Numbers

Based on the number and quality of signed up players, we modify the prize pool, and the amount of total points that a tournament can provide. Our guidelines are below.

The scaling of the starting prize pool is as follows:

32 players: 100% ($1000)
24 players: 75% ($750)
16 players: 50% ($500)
8 players: 25% ($250)

The scaling of the ladder points is as follows:

• Base value: 10x Prize pool in USD (or monetary value in prizes).
  • For qualifiers the base value is 1000.
• For any class exclusion combination, remove 10% points per class removed.
  • S+A Class only tournaments are excluded from this ruling on a case-by-case basis.
• The number of players in the tournaments will scale the points in the following way:
  • 4-8: -50%
  • 9-15: -25%
  • 16-23: no change
  • 24-31: +50%
  • 32-47: +75%
  • 48-64: +100%

Monthly Clip Contest

In addition to the league, we will be running a monthly clip contest in our Discord. Simply take great clips of our content, either on Twitch or YouTube, and share it in Discord. The submitter of the clip with the most "Meta Plays logo" reactions in each month will win $10 either as a direct transfer of a gift card of their choice.

We will likely also be posting several of these on our social media, on a case-by-case basis.

Sponsorship Prize Contributions

In addition to directly contributing to prize pools, you can contribute to event prizes now by participating in our sponsorship offerings.

As each sponsorship is built different, the nature of these will differ on a case-by-case basis. 

Participate by submitting a screenshot of competing the sponsor action in our Discord.

How the Ladder Works

Each tournament comes with Meta Plays Ladder Points. These points go towards the corresponding ladder. Based on your position in the ladder, we assign you to a "Class" - one of D(lowest), C, B, A and S(highest). The classes give you a badge and will be featured on your Tournament Profile. This time we only have the one event to influence this, and we will use your Season 4 information for seedings.

The top 4 players will also receive medals corresponding with their final placement in the Tournament.

Can I Host Tournaments Too?

Yes! We are in fact looking for additional Content Partners that are willing to contribute to our Seasonal Ladders, or cover events that we may not be able to.

Where To Watch

We will live stream the main events on our Twitch, and VoDs will be available on our YouTube.
Community casters will have access to cover games as well - all games that we don't cover are open casting for live streamers. Please contact each event's manager for clearance. Bear in mind though, that in Age of Mythology, due to limited spectating slots and lag reasons, our Content Partners have priority in key matches.
We also provide replay packs that may be used for replay casts or learning purposes.
